Michael Langley to Commence Work on Racial Equity with CEO Organization
Michael Langley will join Greater Phoenix Leadership as the Director of Member Engagement, Racial Equity Advancement Project. In this role, Michael will deploy his experience with public-private partnerships, data management and law to develop and implement programs and engagement for Arizona CEOs to address racial equity issues in Arizona and bring about change.
“I have admired the work of Greater Phoenix Leadership for some time and am truly excited to uphold that legacy of service through and with a racial equity lens,” said Langley.
In addition to overseeing the start-up of GPL’s Racial Equity Advancement Project, Langley will oversee the portfolio of work associated with the organization’s Social Impact Standing Committee, which includes task forces focused on Affordable Housing and Homelessness, Arts and Culture, Criminal Justice Reform, Latino Attainment in Arizona and Racial Equity Advancement.
“Structural racism cost our economy $16 trillion– that’s trillion with a “T”- over a period of 20 years. That is amplified when the costs of redlining, segregation, and other racist policies pre-Civil Rights are included. The moral and economic imperatives are clear: racism hurts us all,” Langley added.
“Addressing racial equity in Arizona is a top priority for the CEOs of the state and we’re delighted Michael is joining the GPL team. His knowledge, skills and expertise will be tremendous assets to our organization, our membership and the work underway with our policy committees and task forces,” said GPL Board Chair and Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill.
“Michael’s background and cross-sector experience has uniquely prepared him for this role with GPL. We are anxious for him to join our team and help us chart a path forward to address racial equity across our portfolio of community engagement” said GPL President and CEO Neil Giuliano.
Prior to his work at GPL, Langley served as Deputy Director of the Global Chamber Phoenix. He will officially join Greater Phoenix Leadership in May.
