Greater Phoenix Leadership Announces Election of Officers, Board Members
Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL) announced new officer and board member additions at their May 6 annual meeting, conducted in a hybrid model, both virtually and also in-person for the first time since March 2020.
Board Chair and Arizona Cardinals Chairman and President Michael Bidwill will remain Chair until May 2022. Joining Bidwill as 2021-2022 officers are Pam Kehaly, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona as Vice-Chair; Mike Hummel, General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Salt River Project, who will serve as Board Treasurer and Simer Mayo, Founder and CEO of Valor Global, as Board Secretary.
Joining the Board of Directors for three-year terms are Monica Garnes, President of Fry’s Food Stores, and Gonzalo de la Melena, Managing Member of Emerging Domestic Market Venues.
“We’re very pleased with the selection of new officers and board members. I am confident that their unique experiences and expertise will combine to serve the organization well, long into the future,” said Bidwill.
Outgoing board members Robert Delgado, President and CEO of Hensley and Company, and Phil Francis, retired Chairman of Petsmart, were recognized for a combined 36 years of service on the board of directors. Both served as board chair of the organization, in 2007-2009 and 2009-2011, respectively.
“The past year has been a one of strong growth as we implemented our first strategic plan and adopted a business roundtable model of member engagement,” said GPL President and CEO Neil Giuliano. “Despite the uncertain landscape of the pandemic and its impacts on businesses and our economy, GPL continues to address the most critical issues facing the community. I’m very pleased to welcome these leaders to their new roles with the organization.”
