Job Title: Director, Community Infrastructure & Special Projects
Reports to: Executive Vice-President
Greater Phoenix Leadership (GPL), a membership-based organization of the valley’s leading CEOs, aligning leadership and resources at the intersection of the business, government, philanthropy and education sectors, seeks a dynamic and skilled team member to create, implement and maintain the public policy engagement and priorities of the organization.
Job Description and Key Functions
With general supervision and in partnership with the President/CEO and Executive Vice-President, the Director, Community Infrastructure has primary responsibility for providing and coordinating comprehensive staff work to the CEO, EVP and members of GPL involved with the Community Infrastructure Standing Committee while organizing and advancing their direct engagement and community work on the following Task Forces: Economy, Rio Reimagined, Transportation and Water.
In addition, the Director, Community Infrastructure will engage with other staff on issues related to communication strategies and provide strong and stable project management for projects brought forward by the membership and/or staff.
The Director will engage with members of GPL in a timely and professional manner in execution of all duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Work with President/CEO, Executive Vice-President and GPL leadership/members who are chairs/co-chairs of assigned committees/task forces on agenda creation, all meeting logistics, meeting minutes, follow-up, speakers/presenters, and briefing materials as requested within a “completed staff work” culture of accepting responsibility, start to finish
- Create, prepare, and disseminate information and materials related to assigned committees/task forces, ensuring GPL members are kept abreast with accurate and timely information on issues in coordination with the GPL Director, Public Policy
- Actively engage and participate externally in the broader community at levels necessary to maintain knowledge and relationships on Community Infrastructure issues, represent GPL at meetings and gatherings of other groups and organizations working in similar areas
- Coordinate and execute other special projects as assigned, individually or in partnership with other staff/partners. These could be in relation to major events, communication and external relationships across the broad portfolio of GPL engagement, as needed
- Oversee and participate as needed in coordination of GPL’s social media/web presence, content for social media channels, monitor online discussions on topics of relevance to GPL and seek opportunities to promote members, GPL brand and improve market share of influence in public policy and among community stakeholders
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills creating tools for community and organizational leaders, such as presentations, written statements, talking points and other materials
- Highly organized, focused and detail-oriented project management skills, meeting planning and execution experience, often working in cross-functional teams with other staff and representatives from varying organizations and sectors
- Knowledge of the programs and information for sustaining a strong and vibrant business advocacy ecosystem. General knowledge of Arizona, the Greater Phoenix business community and the community infrastructure issues facing the community
- Knowledge or utilization of basic design and presentation software (Adobe, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Knowledge or utilization of Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill GPL’s professional expectations of accountability, active collaboration, strong work ethic and a commitment to open communication, respect, diversity and professionalism
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the content of the position, and 4-6 years’ experience performing similar work in a business, NGO, philanthropic or governmental setting; or more than eight years of professional experience.
Work Environment and Culture
The organization is currently operating within a hybrid work environment, allowing staff to work both virtually and on-site at 400 East Van Buren Street, Suite 555, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
